An immersive opera retelling the myth of Arianna's abandonment on Naxos.
A stage can be many things—a platform, a prison...
In Threads there is no stage. The audience is free to move among the performers. Throughout, dancers wove red thread between the pillars of the Round Church, ensnaring Arianna in a web. Space the audience previously inhabited becomes a stage with all its restrictions. Arianna laments. Musicians perform live new music composed to a new libretto, interwoven with a few songs by Monteverdi. Invitations were sent in the form of a message in a bottle.
